Coronavirus figures in Lothian area exceed 400 as 46 additional deaths are reported

There have now been more than 400 confirmed coronavirus cases in the Lothian area.

The latest Scottish Government figures reveal an increase of 52 from Friday's figure of 356 – taking the total to 408.

In Fife the number of positive tests has risen from 119 to 147, while in Forth Valley there has been an increase of 17 – taking the total to 189.

In the whole of Scotland there are now 3001 confirmed positive cases, up 399 from yesterday, while 176 people are receiving intensive care in hospital

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed earlier on Friday that there had been 172 deaths from Covid-19 across the country – an increase of 46 from the number reported on Thursday.
