A mum is so "terrified" of coronavirus she has taken her 12-year-old daughter out of school – but she claims she had been threatened with court action.
Jennie Oneill, 34, does not believe Kingswood Academy is safe and she's kept her daughter Olivia home after was sent to detention with pupils from other year groups who are not in her Year Seven bubble.
For the past week, Miss Oneill has home schooled Olivia but she claims a staff member accused her of "depriving her child of an education".
Kingswood Academy has been contacted for comment about the claims.
Miss Oneill, who does not leave the house due to severe anxiety, said she's been left "terrified" at the thought of having to attend court, but is left in a catch 22 situation because she does not believe school is safe.
She told Hull Live : "I took her out on Monday, simply because she started panicking as she was in detention with three other year groups.
"The school rang me up and said they were in the same room, but because it's huge they do not go near each other, and socially distance.
"I don’t know the exact rules but I don’t think they should even be in the same area.
"I said on Friday: 'I do not want to send her back to school, I don’t think you’re protecting her, you chuck them all out at 3pm so they all leave together and they all arrive together, it's mixing bubbles.'
"They said by law Olivia should be in their care from 7.30am until 3pm every day.
"She repeated herself that there will be fines, possibly prosecution."
Miss Oneill said since removing her daughter, she has been "bombarded" with visits and phone calls from the school.
She said: "The attendance officer turns up at your house every day.
"I knew the school did that in normal circumstances, but I didn't think they would after telling them that we want to isolate and don’t want to be bothered. He didn't even have a mask on.
"I've never felt so bad for trying to protect my child.
There are now a total of 160 schools throughout Hull and East Riding which have reported a case of coronavirus.
In Hull, 57 of the city's 97 schools have been affected, while in East Riding, coronavirus has been reported in 103 of the 150 schools.
Since March, the virus has entirely closed two primary schools and two secondary schools in the areas.
At other schools, entire year groups have been sent home, while others have now implemented a rota system.
