Coronavirus: EastEnders' Danny-Boy Hatchard admits he's worried about money

EastEnders star Danny-Boy Hatchard has admitted he's worried about money as the coronavirus cripples the entertainment industry.

The actor, 28, took to Twitter earlier this week to post a motivational message for his colleagues who may be scared about supporting themselves, telling them to "keep that chin up".

It comes as EastEnders bosses announced that filming has been suspended and just two episodes will air a week amid the spread of the highly-infectious condition across the globe.

Danny-Boy, who played Lee Carter in the BBC soap, posted: "For all you Actors/Performers out there who've suffered bad news these past few days.

"I've felt it. I too am worried about finances.

"Keep that chin up, those shoulders back, and let's take care of one another.

"This too shall pass. We will be stronger for it."

"Much love, D," he signed the message alongside a red love heart emoji.

An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed that the amount of episodes broadcast each week will be reduced from four to two in order to keep audiences enjoying the BBC soap for as long as possible.

Episodes will now air on Mondays at 8pm and Tuesdays at 7:30pm only with immediate effect.

The statement read: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest government update.

"We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.

"We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible."
