Coronavirus: Diamond Princess passenger tweets funny food reviews in quarantine

A man who is quarantined on a cruise ship at a port in Japan due to coronavirus has been sharing hilarious food reviews via Twitter.

Matthew Smith has been on board the Diamond Princess with 2,666 other passengers since last Tuesday.

He confirmed the ship has 66 confirmed coronavirus cases aboard the ship, up from the initial number 61.

But to pass the time Mr Smith has been sharing images and comments as the food get delivered to his stateroom door.

He even added to one tweet: "You might have to drag me off the ship when the quarantine ends."

His tweets have been retweeted and liked by hundreds of people, but some have been critical of his jolly attitude as others on board are not in the same situation.

Ashley Rhodes-Courte replied: "I find your commentary insensitive and misleading. My parents are on the ship and do not share your seemingly charming experience.

"Ample praise to the crew and staff for all they are doing. We're hopeful for as many survivors as possible. People are suffering on board and ashore.”

Mr Smith quickly retorted: "I didn't speak to your parents' experience, only my own.

“I don't care that you don't like my truth, but it is true nonetheless.”

He has also been tweeting praise for the crew and has shared images of his view, face masks and medication.
