Coronavirus: Cristiano Ronaldo shows off ripped physique while in quarantine

Cristiano Ronaldo has not let the coronavirus crisis stop him maintaining his impressing physique as he continues to self-isolate in his native Madeira.

The 35-year-old Juventus forward has been in Portugal since the start of the month after his mother suffered a stroke, and he has remained there amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Serie A season suspended indefinitely.

He is staying in luxury digs that overlook the Atlantic Ocean with his family, and his sister Katia Aveiro shared a picture of them following a workout on her Instagram.

Ronaldo had been in superb form before the season was abruptly suspended, and had scored an impressive 13 goals in his last 11 games in all competitions.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner sent a message to his fans over the weekend urging them to follow government guidelines and stay at home to try to slow the spread of coronavirus.

He took to social media to say: "If you ever dreamed of playing for millions around the world, now is your chance. Play inside, play for the world," along with a picture of him posing next to a weights machine.

His mother, Dolores Aveiro, recently returned home from hospital following her stroke, and she said she felt lucky to be alive.

The mum-of-four, looking happy and relaxed as she looked out to sea from her terrace, confessed: “I am lucky to have the opportunity to live to love my family and have them close to me.

“Thank you to everyone for their support and affection. These have been difficult days but of struggle and victory.

“Now I’m at home surrounded by the love of my family, my good energy.

“I will stay here as I like to but always looking after myself first. Everything will be fine.”
