Coronavirus: Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd films last scenes before lockdown

Jack P Shepherd has been spotted filming his last scenes for Coronation Street before the soap goes into lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Corrie bosses have made the decision to suspend all filming to protect the cast and crew from catching the deadly bug, which is sweeping across the UK.

The soap star, 32, was photographed shooting in a park as he stood up to a group of thugs.

Jack, who plays David Platt on the ITV soap, is seen wrestling one of the boys off his bike and throws him to the ground before angrily throwing the bike down.

The actor is then seen running away before the gang can catch up with David.

It's not clear why David was confronting the group and whether they manage to catch up with him.

Soaps usually shoot around six weeks ahead.

But Coronation Street will now air just three episodes a week as bosses try to ration episodes while filming is postponed.

It will now be on TV on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm.

There will no longer be any double episodes.

A statement from ITV read: "The continued transmission of both soaps is a priority to all of us at ITV and to our audiences who enjoy the shows.

"Whilst carefully adhering to the latest health advice from the Government and Public Health England, our production teams are continuing to film episodes in Manchester and Leeds.

"With this change of transmission pattern, it will ensure we have great new soap episodes coming to air every weekday night until at least the early summer.

"With effect from Monday 30 March Coronation Street and Emmerdale's scheduling pattern will be changing due to the coronavirus pandemic."

Other soaps have also been affected, with EastEnders airing just two episodes a week on on Mondays at 8pm and Tuesdays at 7:30pm.

Hollyoaks is being cut down to just three episodes a week, starting later this month.

Emmerdale will continue to air Monday to Friday at 7pm but there will be no double episode on Thursdays.
