Coronavirus has officially been labelled as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation as the virus continues to spread.
In the UK alone, the death toll has risen to 10 and the number of confirmed cases has increased to 596 from 456 in just 24 hours.
And whist there are measures we can all take to prevent the spread, one corner shop is going above and beyond, reports the Daily Record .
In a remarkable act of generosity, the owners, Asiyah Javed and husband Jawad, are giving away free face masks, antibacterial hand gel and cleaning wipes to elderly customers.
And they're offering free delivery services too, for residents that are unable to make it to the shops.
Any local resident over the age of 65 can pick up the goods from their store, Day Today Express in Stenhousemuir, Falkirk.
Each bag of products costs £2 to put together, and 500 have already been delivered.
Another 300 are ready to collect in store.
This has cost their business £2,000 so far but despite ridicule from some shoppers they don't plan on stopping yet.
Mum-of-three Asiyah said some people had called them "stupid", saying "why are you giving them away for free?"
But she already had the idea in mind, after stockpiling hand gel at a Cash and Carry, before the coronavirus outbreak had reached Scotland.
She said: "I thought 'it's time to give now', not when Coronavirus is here.
"You don't want to give them out when people have already got the virus."
And whilst other people thought she was planning on selling her stock like other shopkeepers, this couple always planned on buying them to give them away.
She said: "On Saturday I was out, and I met an old woman, she was crying because she had been to the supermarket and there was no hand wash.
"I feel it is not fair on elderly people, some can't get out the house."
She continued: "Some people are asking for them to be delivered as they're old, or disabled, or don't drive.
"We are just trying to help people who can't get out the house."
She added that the couple thought of how their grandparents would have struggled at a time like this, and that it was only right to do whatever they could to help any elderly customers.
