Coronavirus contact tracing underway at Irvine nursery

Covid-19 Contact tracing is currently underway at an Irvine early years centre.

Lynne McNiven, joint director of public health at NHS Ayrshire and Arran, confirmed a team were conducting contact tracing within St Mark’s early years centre in the town.

She explained: “NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Test and Protect team is currently conducting contact tracing within St Mark’s Early Years Centre in the North Ayrshire Council area.

“These individuals are being contacted by the Test and Protect team and told to self-isolate at home for 14 days.

“We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect children and staff.

“To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.

“We would like to remind people of the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19): new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops any of these symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately.”

Everyone in Ayrshire and Arran is reminded to remember the FACTS guidance:

F – Face coverings. These should be used in shops and on public transport (buses, trains and taxis)
A – Avoid crowded places.
C – Clean your hands frequently, using water & soap whenever possible.
T – Two metres – observe physical distancing.
S – Self-isolate and book a test if you are suffering from COVID-19 symptoms.
