Coronavirus contact tracing underway at Ayr school and nursery

Contact tracing is underway in relation to coronavirus at an Ayr secondary school and nursery. 

NHS Ayrshire and Arran have confirmed their Test and Protect team is contacting individuals at Ayr Academy and Wallacetown Nursery.

They are asking those identified as close contacts to self-isolate for 14 days. 

Lynne McNiven, Joint Director of Public Health said: "NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Test & Protect team is currently conducting contact tracing within Ayr Academy and Wallacetoun Nursery in the South Ayrshire Council area.

"These individuals are being contacted by the Test and Protect team and told to self-isolate at home for 14 days.

"We appreciate this is a very worrying time. However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect pupils and staff.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time."
