Coronavirus concern leads Rangers to clamp down on autographs and photographs

Rangers have taken steps to avoid players making contact with supporters due to concern over the Coronavirus.

With big games coming up at Ibrox against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday and Celtic on Sunday, the club has issued a statement with advice and updates for fans.

The away leg of their Europa League tie in Leverkusen is still scheduled to go ahead a week on Thursday, but the statement confirms that Rangers remain in discussions with the German side and authorities.

In a statement released this afternoon, Rangers said: "The Club has taken additional safety measures including installing hand sanitiser gel dispensers in all public toilets.

"Coronavirus safety information will also be displayed on the big screens at the match and has been added to the Club programme.

"Safety advice includes: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. Always wash your hands when you get home or into work with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

"Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water is not available. Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards.

"Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

"Supporters should be aware that following direction and advice from the Club and authorities that Rangers football staff have been ordered to avoid contact with any supporters or third parties where possible.

Unfortunately, that means there will be no opportunity for photographs, autographs or meeting players or coaching staff pre or post-match. We apologise for this inconvenience."
