Coronavirus cluster at Scots sheltered housing complex after 16 residents and 12 staff test positive

A coronavirus outbreak has been identified at a Scots extra care housing development in Peebles after 28 people caught the killer bug.

A total of 16 residents and 12 staff have now tested positive for Covid-19 at Dovecot Court.

Eildon Housing Association, who run the facility, say they are working closely with NHS Borders, the Scottish Borders Council and SB Cares to ensure the safety and wellbeing of tenants.

Visiting at the sheltered housing complex has temporarily been suspended due to the cluster however this will be ‘reviewed regularly’.

Jen Holland, Chief Operating Officer of SB Cares, said: “We have robust contingency plans in place to ensure that our ongoing service provision to clients in Dovecot Court is maintained throughout this ongoing incident and that we can continue to safely support all tenants.

“We continue to communicate regularly with tenants and families and would like to thank them for their ongoing support and cooperation.

“There is no impact on any other SB Cares services in the Tweeddale area.”

Chief Executive of Eildon Housing, Nile Istephan, added: “Eildon Housing continues to work extremely closely with the various partners to respond to this ongoing incident and ensure that all our tenants at Dovecot Court are provided with any support that is required at this challenging time.”
