Children at a Nailsea primary school are being asked to self isolate after a classmate tested positive for coronavirus.
A year five class at Kingshill Church School in Pound Lane has been told to self isolate after a fellow student tested positive.
Emails informing parents of the situation were sent out by headteacher Jan Thomson today (Wednesday).
It is understood that only children in the same class as the affected pupil have been asked to self isolate.
The rest of the school, run by the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust, is open as normal.
School bosses say they are ‘continuing to monitor the situation.’
The case at Kingshill Primary comes just days after Nailsea School confirmed positive cases of the virus.
In a letter home to parents Mrs Thomson said: “We are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England and the Department for Education.
“Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
“The class of children who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case will have received a separate letter and will be staying at home for 14 days after the last contact.
“The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well.”
Other schools across North Somerset have also recorded cases, including Gordano School, Bournville Primary School and Hans Price Academy in Weston-super-Mare.
