Coronavirus: Chester Zoo hosts virtual tour live stream to entertain those in isolation

On Friday, Chester Zoo is hosting a live tour of its facilities to entertain those in isolation due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The virtual tour will feature close-up videos of the zoo’s menagerie of animals, including Asian elephants, butterflies and penguins.

The tour launched at 10am on the Chester Zoo’s Facebook page and will feature different animals every hour from then until 4.30pm.

Those wishing to tune in simply have to head to the Chester Zoo Facebook page here.

The “tour” began by showing viewers the zoo’s red pandas and will move on to the Rothschild’s giraffes at 11am.

Then, at 12noon, viewers will be taken to see one of the zoo’s most popular animals: the Asian elephants.

At 1pm, it’s time to see the butterflies and at 2pm, the tour will arrive to see the Sun bears, a species that comes from Southeast Asia.

At 2.30pm the camera will head towards the Sumatran tiger den, but be sure to be on time for this one as the tour will only remain there for 15 minutes before moving on to see the Humboldt penguins, which come from South America.

Finally, the tour will come to an end by paying a quick visit to the aquarium at 4pm, where those that are watching will be able to see all kinds of underwater creatures, from seahorses and pipefish to anemone and clownfish.
