Coronavirus: Celebrities send Boris Johnson well wishes as he's moved to intensive care

Famous figures from the world of entertainment have been sending their well wishes to Boris Johnson, who has been moved to intensive care after his coronavirus symptoms worsened.

After the news broke that the prime minister had been moved as a precaution – in case he required ventilation to aid his recovery – film and TV stars posted messages to Twitter commenting on the situation.

Hugh Grant, Susanna Reid and Lord Sugar led the messages on Twitter, with Grant acknowledging that – while he may not agree with Johnson’s politics – health comes first.

“I haven’t been his greatest supporter but v much rooting for the PM tonight,” Grant wrote.

Strictly Come Dancing star Bruno Tonioli urged the PM to “hang on”, while presenter Nick Knowles wrote: “Don’t tweet vile stuff wishing Boris ill – it says more about you than his politics.”

Gary Lineker called it “shocking news”, adding: “Hope he pulls through.”

Susanna Reid sent her well wishes to Johnson and hs partner, Carrie Symonds.

Hollywood star Mia Farrow wrote: “Prayers up for Boris Johnson and everyone now fighting Covid-19.”

Johnson is said to be receiving “excellent care”. Dominic Raab, the foreign secretary, has been asked to deputise for the prime minister “where necessary”.
