Coronavirus: Catherine Tyldesley jokes about holidays at home as son begs to go to Lapland

Catherine Tyldesley 's son was left devastated after the former Corrie star joked they were going on holiday - to another room in their family home.

Coronavirus spreading has forced the UK government to enforce a travel ban for 30 days amid the killer bug outbreak.

The Strictly Come Dancing hopeful, 36, took to her Instagram on Saturday and told her son Alfie she was taking him on a family holiday.

The ecstatic five-year-old was over the moon to hear the news as Catherine gave him the option to go to the front room, the kitchen or the bathroom.

But his hilarious response was to visit freezing cold Lapland instead.

In the heartwarming video, Catherine said: "Alfie, it's depressing times at the moment. Guess what?"

Much to his excitement, Alfie replied: "I know that we're going on holiday tomorrow," as Catherine squealed: "Yes, we're going on holiday tomorrow!"

After a pause, she gave him a list of choices as she listed off different rooms in the house.

She said: "What do you think - where would you like to go? Front room, bathroom or kitchen? Knock yourself out!"

Alfie had his hands over his mouth in deep thought.

He responded: "Lapland!"

Catherine recently starred on Strictly Come Dancing (BBC/PA)

Alfie's mum hilariously said: "Lapland isn't an option babe, hashtag self-isolation."

She captioned the playful moment: "Holiday plans... #Alfie".

The cheerful video received thousands of likes from Catherine's fans and friends including Strictly co-star Emma Barton.

The EastEnders actress wrote: "Sooooo cute" alongside kiss emojis.

Daniel Brocklebank penned: "LOVE this darling!!! Hope you’re all good. Sending love to all x"
