Coronavirus cases Scotland today: 1,456 reported overnight with 198 in the Lothians

In the last 24 hours, Scotland has reported a further 1,456 cases of coronavirus across the country.

The new figure represents 19.9 per cent of individuals tested on Monday.

Today, Nicola Sturgeon reminded the public that the figures may be slightly higher today due to an issue with testing results on Sunday.

Out of the new cases reported, 198 are in the Lothians, with a further 500 in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 393 in Lanarkshire and 116 in Ayrshire and Arran.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have now been 49,164 cases of Covid-19 in Scotland.

Hospital admissions have also continued to rise, with 824 patients currently being treated for the virus, 70 more than on Monday.

A total of 69 patients are in intensive care units around the country, eight than yesterday.

The First Minister also reported a further 15 deaths from the virus have been recorded.

This takes the death toll in Scotland since the start of the pandemic to 2625.
