Coronavirus cases rise in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire according to Public Health England figures

The number of coronavirus cases has risen again in the city and county according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

There are now 45 confirmed patients in Nottinghamshire and 22 in Nottingham.

Across the UK, the total number of Covid-19 cases has now risen to more than 5,000.

And a further 53 people have sadly died after contracting coronavirus throughout the country, bringing the total to 233.

Today (March 21), two more patients have also died in Nottingham's hospitals as a result of Covid-19.

The patients, aged 75 and 67, both had underlying health conditions, according to Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.

Five people tested positive for  Covid-19  have now died across the city and county.

Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director for  Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust  said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a further two patients who were being cared for at our hospitals have died. Both patients had tested positive for Covid-19.

“The fourth patient, 75, had an underlying health condition and died on Tuesday, March 3.

"The positive test results were returned on Monday 16 March. Her family has subsequently been informed.”
