Coronavirus cases rise in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset

There have been another 12 cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Bristol region today (Monday, March 23) as Public Health England release the latest figures.

In Bristol, 28 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 after five more cases were confirmed today. In South Gloucestershire another two cases were confirmed taking the total to 19.

In Bath and North East Somerset there are now 16 cases, up from 13 yesterday, and in North Somerset the number if cases has risen by two bringing their total cases to seven.

Without a widespread testing regime, only those seriously ill with the severest symptoms of COVID-19 are generally being tested when they are admitted to hospital, so the number of unconfirmed cases is estimated by the authorities to be many times higher.
