Coronavirus cases rise in Bristol and surrounding areas

Coronavirus cases have risen once again in and around Bristol.

The government's latest data set released today (Sunday, August 2) show a creeping rise in Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset.

However, South Gloucestershire has not seen a rise in coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours.

Cases in Bristol now stand at 1,344, which is one more than on Saturday.

There has been four new cases in Bath and North East Somerset, rising from 349 to 353 over the last 24 hour period.

North Somerset saw a rise of one case from 914 to 915.

Nationally, the number of cases across the UK now stands at 304,695, an increase of 744 over the last 24 hours.

The number of deaths have risen by 8 to 46,201.

The figures account for the 24-hour period up to 9am this morning, and only include lab-confirmed cases.
