Coronavirus cases rise again and this is where Nottinghamshire's new positive tests are

The last 24 hours has seen an increase of six coronavirus cases in Nottingham.

Today's figures show that there have been 1,169 cases of Covid-19 in Nottingham - no change on yesterday's figures - and a further 2,943 cases in Nottinghamshire - up six.

UK-wide deaths related to Covid-19 now stand at 44,220, an increase of 22 overnight.

The number confirmed cases across the country now stands at 285,416, with 516 confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Broken down into each region of Nottinghamshire, the figures also now show a rise in the number of positive cases:

  • Rushcliffe - 377 ( one new case)
  • Mansfield - 342 (no change)
  • Newark and Sherwood - 312 (one new case)

The health service may have to deliver its “biggest-ever” flu immunisation this winter as a second wave of coronavirus remains “entirely possible”, the NHS’s chief executive has said.

Sir Simon Stevens told The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday that the NHS was preparing for a second wave of Covid-19.

He said: “It is entirely possible there will be. Particularly if it is co-existent with the flu. And the risk is many of the symptoms are interchangeable.

“So one of the things we need is a very rigorous NHS testing and tracing service available.

“The ability to give early warnings to hospitals where there are those local increases and I think we are going to need the biggest-ever flu immunisation season we have ever had.

“We don’t know yet whether there will be a Covid-19 vaccine available in time for winter.”
