Coronavirus cases linked to five greater Glasgow schools and one business as contact tracing underway

Contact tracing is being carried out across five greater Glasgow schools and one business following the rise in coronavirus cases.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s test and protect team are carrying out contact tracing at four primaries and one secondary school but say there is no evidence of transmission within the schools themselves.

Twechar Primary, Aileymill Primary in Greenock, St Monica’s Primary in the Pollock area of Glasgow and Gartconnor Primary in Kirkintilloch are all being targetted.

Knightswood Secondary School, near Glasgow, is also on the list.

The Daily Record understands two children have tested positive at Aileymill Primary with two year groups being told to self isolate.

A small staff cluster at the McKesson UK healthcare firm, All About Health on Polmadie Road, has also been recorded.

Public health teams have been established and lists of contacts for the test and protect team have been identified.

Close contacts are being asked to self-isolate however all other staff can continue to attend the premises as normal.

The health board has insisted there is no risk from the handling of medicines at the firm.

Other than those who have been in close contact with a positive case, all other staff and pupils at the schools have been told they can continue to attend as normal.

The health board say there is no risk to the wider community.

The public have been urged to remain vigilant.

There is no need to seek a test if you are not experiencing any symptoms however anyone with one or more symptom is told to immediately self-isolate and order a test.

It comes after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced a rise of 160 cases of coronavirus earlier today.
