Coronavirus cases jump up across all areas in Bristol region

All areas across the Bristol region recorded a rise in coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the latest figures (Monday, September 28), a total of 16 more people have been diagnosed with the deadly virus today.

That number is one of the lowest recorded this month, with yesterday's standing at 41, Sunday's 48 and Friday's was 37.

Both Bristol and South Gloucestershire reported a further five cases today, bringing their totals to 1,816 and 1,006 respectively.

While Bath and North East Somerset saw a rise of four, the total there is 531.

And North Somerset reported a jump of two, bringing this district's total to 1,131.

UK-wide, cases have soared by 4,044 in another sharp increase.

The number of deaths from Covid-19 in Britain also rose by 13, taking the death toll to 42,001.

Neither of Bristol's hospital trusts have recorded a new death over the past 24 hours, so the number of deaths remains at 271.

Southmead Hospital reported a coronavirus -related death on Tuesday August 25, which was the first in the city for two months.
