Coronavirus cases in Scotland rise by five as total hits 23

Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed the number of Coronavirus cases in Scotland has increased to 23.

The First Minister issued the fresh figures after a UK-wide COBRA meeting which included Boris Johnson.

The number of infections stood at 18 yesterday.

It came as the decision was made to allow the Wales v Scotland Six Nations game to go ahead as scheduled.

We reported earlier how someone from the University of the West of Scotland’s Lanarkshire campus tested positive for coronavirus.

It is understood the patient – from the base at Hamilton International Technology Park – was confirmed as having the COVID-19 strain at the weekend, and is now receiving treatment in hospital.

It also emerged today that a Disneyland Paris worker tested positive for the deadly coronavirus - as global cases exceed 100,000.
