Coronavirus cases in Lanarkshire drop for second week in a row

New weekly cases of coronavirus have fallen for the second consecutive week in Lanarkshire.

More than 15,000 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in the region.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed a further 219 cases in the county for yesterday at her daily briefing on Monday, November 9, as weekly cases fell below 2000 for the first time in a month.

That brings the total number of new Covid cases in the region for last week (week beginning November 2) to 1803 - 198 less than the previous week.

Last week, the rate of decreasing in new Covid-19 cases across the region fell to 9.8 per cent after reducing by 26.4 per cent in the previous week.

New cases of coronavirus in Lanarkshire peaked at 2719 in the week beginning October 19.

In total, 15,199 people in Lanarkshire have tested positive for coronavirus.
