The novel coronavirus cases in Gujarat jumped to 30 on Monday as the State battles to enforce lock down in major cities.
“So far, 30 cases reported from the State and one person died of the infection,” a State health department release stated.
Ahmedabad tops the chart with the highest number of 13 while Vadodara has six cases.
In Vadodara, four members of a family have tested positive.
According to Principal Secretary (Health) Jayanti Ravi, there are 11,108 persons quarantined across Gujarat and 224 have been put under mandatory government quarantine facilities.

The authorities have lodged 10 FIRs for breach of prescribed quarantine protocols.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is likely to seek the help of the police to enforce lock down after Monday saw regular traffic on the roads despite lock down instructions.
Municipal Commissioner Vijay Nehra has urged citizens to stay home. “Only one thing that can save all of us is staying home. Time has come to strictly adhere to all guidelines for a couple of weeks that are very crucial.”

To send a message that they would not take any violation of the rules lightly, the Ahmedabad police booked 40 persons who celebrated “corona festival” in Khadia locality where they took out a rally to celebrate thanksgiving at 5 pm during the janata curfew on Sunday.
In the video that went viral on social media, hundreds of people were seen marching in the rally while playing the drums, banging steel plates and clapping.
Very few people were seen wearing masks with a large number of them paying no heed to precautionary measures that they should undertake for their safety. Several two-wheelers were also seen plying on the roads during the curfew hours in the walled city area.
On Monday, the State government has expanded the lock down rules making it mandatory to stay indoors for all those except those dealing with essential services as prescribed in the government notification.
The State government has also extended the lock down period from March 25 to March 31 and directed the police and other law enforcement agencies to enforce the rules in a strict manner.
