Coronavirus cases in and around Bristol continue to creep up

Four further coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Bristol over the last 24 hours.

According to Public Health England's latest data, Bristol now has 1388 cases.

There has also been an increase of three in Bath & North East Somerset, bringing the district's total to 361.

No new cases were recorded in either South Gloucestershire or North Somerset, with 779 and 923 respectively.

Nationally, 317, 379 people have now tested positive for the virus after a daily rise of 1,012.

Coronavirus deaths

Three Covid-related deaths were recorded across the UK over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 41,361.

At the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital, the last Covid-19 death recorded was on July 10. Their total death toll remains at 151.

While the last coronavirus death at Southmead Hospital was on June 22. Its total remains at 119.

The UK has the fifth-highest Covid-19 death toll in the world, behind the US (171,867), Brazil (106,571), Mexico (55,908) and India (49,481), as of Saturday afternoon.
