Coronavirus cases for your area as Nicola Sturgeon considers 'accelerating' lockdown easing

The latest weekly coronavirus cases for every local authority area in Scotland have been released health officials.

Public Health Scotland recorded 4,350 positive cases in the week between February 21 and 27 - with the number representing 3.9% of people tested for the virus.

The 7-day positive rate per 100,000 population across the whole of Scotland was 79.6 during the same period.

This figure is calculated by adding all of the cases recorded over those seven days and divided by the population of the country.

Falkirk recorded the highest rate of test positivity, with Stirling, Clackmannanshire, West Lothian and Renfrewshire not far behind.

The latest data comes after Nicola Sturgeon suggested yesterday that the easing of lockdown could be ‘accelerated’ as the case number continue to tumble in Scotland.

Sturgeon is expected to reveal details of the country’s new tiered-system of lockdown restrictions to MSPs at Holyrood next week.

More than 1.6m Scots have so far received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, according to the latest Scottish Government data.
