
Saudi Arabia has witnessed a 95 percent decline in coronavirus cases, while critical cases dropped by 65 percent.
Saudi Health Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammed Abdelali confirmed that the decline was due to the public’s adherence to preventative measures as well as the rise in the number of vaccinated people.
During a press conference Sunday, Abdelali reassured those hesitant to receive their second dose of the vaccine, saying that the jabs are safe and important to stop emerging variants, including the Delta variant.
Security spokesman for the Saudi Interior Ministry Colonel Talal Al Shalhoub said that the extension of the validity of residence permits for expatriates outside the Kingdom in addition to extending the validity of visit visas and exit and re-entry visas without fees or charges for all expatriates and automatically will continue until Nov. 30.
Shalhoub further reiterated that Saudi Arabia removed the UAE, Argentina, and South Africa from its entry-banned country list and re-allowed citizens to travel to the three states starting Sept. 8, state TV reported on Tuesday.
Tawakkalna, the official app approved by the Saudi Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, launched the feature of a moving frame around the barcode to prevent the use of fake photos.
The ministry announced that the total number of doses administered has reached 39.5 million, with 22.7 million first doses and 16.7 million people having their second.
Saudi Arabia recorded 80 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of infections to 545,992.
There are currently 2,291 active cases, of which 508 cases are critical.
The number of recoveries exceeded the number of new cases at 95 people within the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 535,078.
Six people died from complications caused by the disease, which brought the total number of deaths to 8,623.
