Coronavirus case confirmed by Nottingham primary school

A pupil at a Nottingham primary school has tested positive for coronavirus.

The headteacher of Rufford Primary and Nursery School, Hoewood Road, Bulwell, confirmed the news in a statement on the school website.

Children and staff who have come into close contact with the individual will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

The school remains open for everyone else.

The statement from headteacher Alison Tones read: "Unfortunately, someone in year 5 has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Most children and staff in the year 5 ‘bubble’ have been identified as close contacts.

"They will now self-isolate for 14 days from their last contact with the individual.

"The school remains open for everyone else and your child should continue to attend if they remain well.

"Year 5 staff will be working from home and children will be undertaking daily remote learning.

"I am unable to reveal the identity of the person that has tested positive as they have a right to confidentiality under data protection laws.

"However I will try to answer any questions you may have as fully as I can."

Around 80 other education providers locally have been affected by the virus since the start of the academic year.
