Carmarthenshire Council has confirmed a positive test for coronavirus at Burry Port Primary School in Elkington Park.
The school joins a long list of others in Wales that have reported positive cases including nearby Swiss Valley Primary and Ysgol Pen Rhos in Llanelli.
Carmarthenshire Council and the school have confirmed no-one was in direct contact with the individual who has tested positive, but they will not confirm whether the case was a pupil or member of staff.
As of yesterday, September 21, Carmarthenshire's coronavirus rate has increased to 27 cases per 100,000 and there have been 54 new cases in the county since Friday, September 18.
Robust procedures are said to currently be in place at the school while the necessary test, trace and protect system is in operation.
A spokesperson for the council said: "We can confirm that an individual at Burry Port Primary School has tested positive for Covid-19.
"We have robust procedures in place and the test, trace, protect process is being followed.
"We can confirm that no pupils or members of staff at the school have been identified as having been in close contact with the individual concerned.
"The school is directly in touch with parents to keep them informed.
"The process of testing and contact tracing is part of the ‘new normal’ and where schools follow these guidelines carefully, there is no cause for alarm.
"It is important to remember that coronavirus has not gone away. We must all remain vigilant and maintain social distancing and continue to wash our hands frequently in order to minimise the risk of transmission of the virus."
