Coronavirus case at HMP Addiewell with contacts told to self-isolate

A medic based at a Scots prison has tested positive for coronavirus, it was confirmed tonight.

A specialist Covid-19 contact tracing team was called into HMP Addiewell in West Lothian.

The team identified the positive case among NHS staff at the prison with all close contacts told to self-isolate for 14 days.

None of the inmates of the prison are affected.

An NHS Lothian statement read: "All necessary guidance and advice is being provided and the situation will be closely monitored. The prison remains open.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be released.

"NHS Lothian, the Health Protection Team and HMP Addiewell are working together to assess the situation, and ensure that all contingency measures are in place."

Anyone showing symptoms of coronavirus is advised to order a test through the NHS inform website  www.nhsinform.scot.
