Coronavirus - Cambuslang primary school staff members tests positive

Staff at two Cambuslang schools have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The positive tests, at St Cadoc's Primary school and Newton Farm, are the third and fourth cases in the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area in the past two weeks, following a pupil at the Ace Place Nursery in Rutherglen and a staff member at Stonelaw High.

NHS Lanarkshire's Test and Protect team are currently working to contact anyone who has been in contact with the affected indivduals.

Dr Josephine Pravinkumar, NHS Lanarkshire consultant in public health medicine, previously asked locals to make sure they are tested if they suffer any Covid-19 symptoms.

She said: “Individuals should stay off nursery, school or work and get tested if they or their close contacts experience any Covid-19 symptoms, such as a cough, fever or loss of taste or smell, even if they are mild.

“We want to take this opportunity to remind people of measures to minimise the risk of Covid-19. These include physical distancing and regular handwashing.”

Information on how to access testing is available from  NHS Inform.
