The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bristol has risen by 14 in just 24 hours - the joint biggest daily increase so far.
There are now 117 confirmed cases of infected people in our city as of 9am on April 1.
Health officials are only testing the most severe cases so it's likely the real number could be in the thousands.
Cases have also increased in surrounding areas. In South Gloucestershire, there are now 76 positive tests, this is an increase of ten.
While in North Somerset some 42 people have been confirmed, up by two.
Tragically, the number of coronavirus-related deaths across the UK has soared to 2,352 deaths after 563 were confirmed today.
Among those who have lost their life to the highly contagious disease was 13-year-old Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, who died on Monday. It's believed he had no underlying health conditions.
And First Bus driver Martin Egan died on Saturday, March 28, after falling ill with Covid-19 two weeks ago.
Nationally, 29,474 people have tested positive for COVID-19.
A total of 38 people have died in hospitals in the NHS South West region’s ‘north’ section, which covers Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and the old Avon area, including Bristol, Bath and Weston-super-Mare.
