Coronavirus: Boy and grandad sing Queen's 'I Want to Break Free' over video call

A nine-year-old boy and his grandfather are going viral after performing a duet of Queen's I Want to Break Free via video call while self-isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In the video, which was filmed by the child’s mother Caroline Gallagher, James Gallagher plays guitar while he sings along with his grandad, 73-year-old Paul Browne, who can be seen on the TV.

“Grandson and grandad want to break free in Dublin,” Caroline captioned the video on Twitter, adding the hashtags #SocialDistancing, #VirtualJam and #Queen.

The duet, which has since been viewed more than 31,000 times, has been met with praise on social media, where people have thanked the duo for the entertainment.

“This is the best thing I’ve seen all week,” one person wrote. “What an amazing duo.”

Another said: “I LOVED THIS! Thank you! Made my day.”

“This is awesome. Love it,” someone else responded.

From rooftop workouts to unique Mother’s Day celebrations, the virtual duet is the latest way that people are keeping entertained and in touch with their families while practising social distancing

According to the latest figures, there have been three deaths and 785 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Ireland.
