Coronavirus: Boris Johnson's photographer in isolation days after visiting hospital site

Boris Johnson's photographer is reportedly isolating with symptoms of coronavirus - but only after visiting one of the government's new emergency Nightingale hospitals.

The PM's politically appointed snapper Andrew Parsons took pictures of Mr Johnson last week and is now reportedly in self-isolation, according to The Sun.

But fears have been raised that Mr Parsons may have unwittingly spread it around the new NHS Nightingale hospital at London's Excel centre after he went there to take photographs.

No patients are yet at the Nightingale hospital but they are expected to arrive within days.

The PM tested positive for the virus last Thursday.

Mr Parsons had photographed Mr Johnson outside his Downing Street office during a moment of appreciation for NHS workers on March 26.

The next day, the PM announced he had tested positive for coronavirus and had been suffering symptoms before the "clap for carers" event.

On March 27, Mr Parsons photographed the construction of the NHS Nightingale temporary hospital in East London and civil servants inside No10 listening to Mr Johnson on a video conference call.

It's understood he has mild symptoms and is recovering at home.

Last year Mr Parsons was controversially hired as a politically appointed special advisor, meaning he is paid by the taxpayer to take photographs of the PM.

A source told The Sun: “After Boris was diagnosed, instead of self-isolating he (Parsons) went over to the new hospital at Excel to do pictures.

“Instead of doing the sensible thing, he has potentially passed it on to all the squaddies working over there, as well as a number of civil servants and officials he’s been in touch with."
