Coronavirus: Bishop Auckland MP self-isolating for seven days as a precaution

Bishop Auckland MP Dehenna Davison is self-isolating for seven days after displaying possible symptoms of coronavirus.

The Conservative member, who was elected in December, revealed in a Tweet that she would be staying at home after receiving medical advice.

In a statement, the MP said: "If you are displaying any of the Coronavirus symptoms , it’s really important that you follow the guidance and self-isolate.

"I am doing just that, having been advised to self-isolate for seven days as a precautionary measure. I will provide further updates as they arise.

"Unfortunately, it means this weekend’s constituency engagements have been cancelled, which, in the current circumstances, is the responsible thing to do for the sake of local residents.

"I am truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. My team and I will be in contact as soon as possible to rearrange. Urgent cases, as ever, can be raised by phone, on ‪0207 219 3969‬.

"You can rest assured that I am working from home as much as possible and am in regular contact with my team - as much as we can, it’s business as usual, if a bit more digital."
