Coronavirus: Bachelor star Colton Underwood says bug is 'rougher than I expected'

Colton Underwood has given an update on his battle with coronavirus, admitting it's been worse than he had anticipated.

The Bachelor star, 28, revealed he had tested positive for the deadly bug last week as he vowed to beat it.

Taking to Instagram on Monday evening, Colton admitted that it had been "rougher than I expected".

He shared a picture of herself in bed under the covers eating soup as he tried to recover from the condition, which has killed over 16,000 people around the world.

Colton said he was struggling to breathe but feels like he's finally improving.

He captioned the picture: "The last few days were rougher than I expected. The most prominent symptoms are my cough, night sweats and shortness of breath.

"Breathing is challenging, the best way to describe it is feeling like I only have access to 20% of my lungs.

"I can only imagine how people with pre-existing health conditions feel with this."

Colton said he has been taking malaria medicine hydroxychloroquine and antibiotics.

He continued: "This morning was the first time that I've felt any real type of improvement since the beginning of this.

"I'm hopeful that I've turned the corner and will be back to 100% soon.

"We are very lucky that all of this was manageable at home after getting the proper medicine."

Colton appeared on Season 23 of the US dating reality TV show, The Bachelor, where he met current girlfriend Cassie Randolph.

Cassie said last week: "We're all making sure to take very good care of ourselves and staying healthy.

"We're trying to one, stay positive, two, take a lot of vitamins, and get a lot of sleep."
