Workers at a Prestwick aerospace giant are self-isolating due to an outbreak of coronavirus.
Staff at GE Caledonian have been told to quarantine for 14 days after being identified as close contacts.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran has confirmed they are carrying out a contact tracing exercise at the firm and have contacted a number of individuals.
Lynne McNiven, joint director of public health said: “NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Test & Protect team is conducting a contact tracing exercise within a local workplace in South Ayrshire.
“A number of individuals have been contacted by the Test and Protect team and told to self-isolate at home for 10 days.
“All relevant Public Health measures are in place and our public health team is working with South Ayrshire environmental health officers to manage and monitor the situation.
“To respect and maintain patient confidentiality it is not possible to release any further information at this time.
“We would like to remind people of the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19): new persistent cough; high temperature; and / or loss of taste and smell. Anyone who develops any of these symptoms should book a test and self-isolate immediately.”
The engine maintenance giant was impacted by Covid last year as bosses at GE Aviation announced hundreds of job losses.
Almost half of workers at the South Ayrshire plant were left facing the axe, with 150 taking redundancy last summer as the pandemic took its toll on the industry.
