Arsenal donating 30,000 free meals to local community during lockdown

Arsenal have announced they will provide more than 30,000 free meals as well as sanitary and personal hygiene products to vulnerable people in the local community as part of a response plan to the coronavirus pandemic.

The north London club have also pledged to donate £100,000 to local organisations and a further £50,000 will go towards a Covid-19 crisis fund.

“We are very proud to be able to support the people of Islington during this challenging time,” the club said in a statement.

“Islington Council have set up an extremely well-coordinated response and it is essential that we play our part in supporting that.

“This aligned community response is the result of a lot of hard work and collaboration with a number of local organisations.

“By working together with Islington Council and others, we hope we can continue to identify and support those in our local community who most need our support.”

Earlier this week Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers announced support packages to help the National Health Service in the fight against the virus, which has killed more than 8,000 people in the UK.
