Coronavirus: Another 32 people have died after contracting Covid-19 in Wales as death toll approaches 500

A further 32 people have died after contracting coronavirus in Wales, bringing the total to 495.

There are now 6,401 people confirmed to have Covid-19, after 284 cases were announced on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Wales saw its biggest jump in the number of reported deaths during the outbreak after 60 fatalities were announced.

But Dr Giri Shankar, incident director at Public Health Wales said "fluctuations" are expected in the daily figures.

On Thursday, NHS Wales chief executive Andrew Goodall warned people are not seeking medical help for non-coronavirus health issues.

Speaking during the daily Welsh Government briefing, Dr Goodall said some may be "waiting too long" to seek emergency treatment or choosing not to access regular services.

He said: " I am concerned people may not be seeking medical help for illnesses and symptoms not related to Covid-19.

“Some people may be waiting too long to seek urgent assessment and treatment.

“We understand that while many services are being disrupted, we want to reinforce the message that urgent and emergency services for physical and mental health are still open and accessible.

“For parents, if your child is unwell and you are concerned you should seek help.

"If you have urgent dental pain you should still call your dentist.

"If you have a health complaint that is worrying you and won’t go away you should go to your GP practice.

"And if you or a family member are seriously injured you should dial 999 or go to your nearest emergency department."
