Coronavirus: Angelina Jolie's son back with family after Korean college closes

Angelina Jolie's son Maddox has had to pause his overseas studies and return to the USA amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 18-year-old biochemistry student, who is a freshman at the Yonsei University in South Korea, has been forced to return to his family home in America as the education establishment cancelled the semester, according to People Magazine.

Maddox, who enrolled at the prestigious university in October 2019, is staying with his movie star mum and his five siblings - Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 13, and eleven-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

The publication added that the conscientious student is his downtime focusing on his Korean and Russian studies.

Angelina adopted Maddox before she met ex-husband Brad Pitt and as a couple they went on to adopt two more children, as well as having three biological kids.

Earlier this week philanthropist Jolie spoke out on the coronavirus as it continues to spread around the world.

In a statement for No Kid Hungry, she said: "As of this week, over a billion children are out of school worldwide because of closures linked to coronavirus.

"Many children depend on the care and nutrition they receive during school hours, including nearly 22 million children in America who rely on food support."

She added: "Kid Hungry is making resolute efforts to reach as many of those children as possible."

Last year, the Mr and Mrs Smith actress opened up about her six kids during an interview with Hello!, in which she enthused about how proud she was of them, as they continued to grow and develop.

Angelina said: "I find my children are strong individuals but still open-minded.

"I try to lead by example and be kind and gracious, as my mother was–and loving and tolerant. But when there's a fight that needs to be had, get in there.

"We need to prepare the next generation because there's so much happening in the world, they're up against it."
