Coronation Street wishes former star good luck as she joins new TV show

Coronation Street wished its former star Lucy Fallon good luck tonight as she appeared on a new show.

Lucy Fallon shot to fame playing Bethany Platt on the famous cobbles but left this year to pursue other projects.

Soap fans were able to see the former Coronation Street resident try her hand at quizzing in a new show, Britain's Brightest Celebrity Family, this evening.

Britain’s Brightest Family has now spawned a celebrity version and is presented by The Chase regular, Anne Hegerty.

The official Coronation Street Twitter account wished its former star good luck on the show, confirming they would be watching.

Coronation Street said: "Love the picture @anne_hegerty! Did anyone get that question right?

"We'll be watching tonight - good luck @lufallon!!"

Anne 'the Governess' Hegerty presents the new series which will see eight celebrity families take part in the knockout tournament, hoping to win £25,000 for their chosen charity and the coveted title of Britain's Brightest Family.

The first episode was a battle of the soaps, with Lucy Fallon and her family taking on former EastEnders star Shaun Williamson, who played Barry Evans, and his clan.

Two new rounds have been added to this celebrity spin on the format - including an observation round featuring cartoon images of Anne which put their memories to the test.

Soap fans were excited by the new show.

One viewer tweeted: "Ahhh I can’t wait for this!! So excited!! Roll on 8pm".

Shaun said: "I can’t wait to see this, I just wish I could answer the questions".

Unfortunately, the Fallon family were eliminated.
