Coronation Street fans are reeling from the revelation that Elaine is actually Geoff Metcalfe's wife, and Tim's father.
Elaine has returned to help Yasmeen Nazir, because she too was abused horrifically by Geoff in the past and she saw Yasmeen's case in the news.
In fact, Elaine is not even her real name - it is Phillippa, and she changed it so that Geoff could never find her and terrorise her again.
Meanwhile, Geoff has allowed Tim to believe his mother was actually Geoff's ex partner Tessa - who was Elaine's best friend.

Tessa died in 2004 with Tim still believing she was his mother, so it would be absolutely staggering for him to learn the truth.
In 1971, Philippa married 21-year-old Geoff when she fell pregnant as he wanted to do right by her, and she gave birth to Tim in January 1972.
As well as having an affair with Philippa’s best friend Tessa, Geoff was a controlling and mentally abusive husband.

So Phillippa fled the marriage in late 1973 when Tim was still a year old, as she believed Geoff was going to kill her.
She tried to take Tim with her but Geoff would not allow her, and he prevented her from ever contacting her son again and never gave her any updates on him.
Phillippa was horrified to learn that Tessa was on Geoff's side, and then Geoff threatened to kill Phillippa if she ever returned.
So she changed her name to Elaine Jones to hide from him, something Geoff is unaware of and so he would never have been able to search for her.
Geoff and Phillippa officially divorced in 1974 but Geoff told everyone that Philippa had died of breast cancer, two years into their marriage.
Meanwhile, Geoff quickly married Tessa, when Tim was two years old, in late 1974.
Moving to Marloes Sands, Wales, the newlyweds told Tim and everybody else that Tess was his natural mother, and Tessa died in 2004.
