Coronation Street viewers 'rumble' John Stape mole and it isn't 'obvious' character

Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have worked out the identity of the John Stape mole.

Fiz Brown was stressed in tonight's episode when she received a call from a journalist who was about to run an article on the notorious Weatherfield villain. The character, played by Jennie McAlpine, contacted Tyrone in a panic.

The two tried to work out who was feeding the journalist with the information for the piece on Fiz's former husband. The character, played by Alan Halsall, was sure it was Phill Whittaker leaking the information.

Phill was involved in a dramatic love triangle earlier this year as he was about to marry Fiz before she had second thoughts and rekindled her relationship with Tyrone. Tyrone was convinced Phill was back on the scene trying to sabotage their relationship.

However, fans on Twitter claimed that would be too obvious and instead think it is Hope Stape's new gaming friend.

Dave tweeted: "Gonna guess it’s whoever was speaking to Hope online, Phil is too obvious, maybe Kevin or someone else on the street?"

Angharad commented: "It's whoever hope was talking to.. or her half sister"

Owen tweeted: "What if the person behind the book that is being written about John Stape is this "Mad Dog" Hope has been talking to online?"
