Coronation Street viewers predict 'affair storyline' and more heartache for Fiz

Coronation Street viewers are convinced that another 'affair storyline' is just around the corner and it's going to leave Fiz Brown in tears.

Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) has finally found happiness again after her long-term partner Tyrone Dobbs left her for Alina Pop.

After being encouraged to put herself out there again, Fiz joined an online dating app and ended up meeting Phil Whittaker.

The pair have been happily dating for weeks now, but after tuning into Friday night's hour long episode, fans fear that Fiz's happiness won't last long.

In the latest instalment of the ITV soap, Fiz and Phil were seen chatting to Maria Connor and celebrating her plans to run for council.

As Maria revealed that Sally Webster is also running, Fiz looked shocked and said: "Sally's running?! I thought she'd been banned from ever holding public office again?"

"She was cleared, unfortunately we live in a free country," Maria replied.

"Yeah but you're nicer than she is and less stuck up!" Fiz then said as Maria glanced at Phil and smiled.

"Yeah but she's got experience hasn't she? I'm just a concerned mum whose worried about the levels of CO2 we're breathing in," Maria continued.

Phil then piped up: "Well as I said, if I can help at all just let me know. I know a little bit about council and local politics."

Looking delighted, Maria told him: "Oh Phil, I need all the help I can get, yeah!" to which he replied: "Well, count me in!"

After witnessing the scene, Corrie fans took to Twitter to predict what would happen next.

"#corrie next affair : fizz's new boyfriend Phil and Maria," one person claimed.

Another person joked: "Maria will be boffing Philll by Christmas. #Corrie," while a third added: "It's only a matter of time before Maria nicks Phil off Fiz! #Corrie #CoronationStreet."

A fourth viewer posted: "Something is telling me this is the start of Maria, Phill and an affair storyline #Corrie."

And another simply tweeted: "Fiz looks so nice, Maria back off. #Corrie."
