Coronation Street under fire as fans slam 'unrealistic' court scenes

Coronation Street was under fire from fans as Seb's murder trial got underway in Wednesday's episodes.

Nina Lucas took the stand on the popular ITV soap to give her account of what happened on the night of the killing.

The Mollie Gallagher played character has finally been able to recount who killed Seb - which was revealed through a series of surreal flashback sequences earlier this week.

Both Corey and Kelly are blaming eachother for the killing and are providing different accounts of the incident.

But Nina told the court in the first part of tonight's double-header how she remembers seeing Corey repeatedly kick Seb in the head while Kelly begged him to stop.

However, some viewers on Twitter were distracted during the dramatic events of the murder trial over what they described as 'unrealistic' court scenes. .

One viewer said: "Not me (a former paralegal) and my dad (a retired police officer ) heckling #corrie at all the procedural inaccuracies in this trial"

Another added: "Why’s his dad sat next to him in the dock?#unrealistic @itvcorrie #corrie"

A third added: "How are Simon and Amy allowed in I thought murder trials were closed courts"

A fourth commented: "So why are there people in the gallery and no jury?"

A fifth posted: "Where are the other two suspects, Jay and Eli? Surely, in a murder trial, they'd have all four suspects"

However, other fans defended the scenes.

One user said: "Corey and Kelly are both under 18, and so allowed to have a parent (Stefan) or legal guardian (Toyah) with them in the dock. Murder trials are NOT closed court. Call out inaccuracies if you like, but check they are actual inaccuracies!!"

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV and ITVHub.
