Coronation Street trial scene sees huge blunder infuriate fans

Coronation Street viewers were left frustrated after spotting a big error during the trial scenes.

Friday night's episode saw Imran try to delay the trial after Corey's identity was leaked online.

Imran put his case before the judge and said they they needed to move the trial to give them chance to assess the impact of the leak.

But the prosecution argued that the post had been swiftly removed and hadn't been seen by many people, meaning the impact would be minimal.

The judge took both arguments into account but said the trial didn't need to be moved and hit her gavel on the bench to end the matter.

However viewers at home were left annoyed as British judges don't use gavels like their American counterparts.

And many of them took to social media to point out the error.

Samantha Valentine said: " #Corrie writers want to stop watching law and order we don't use the gavel in UK courts."

@liadaksy said: "I have no background in law, but I do know that British Judges do not have gavels……..research team what went wrong?"

And Briefcase Michael said: "Oh no, not again! How many times does #Corrie have to be told? English judges do not have gavels."

*Coronation Street continues at 7:30pm on ITV on Monday
