Coronation Street star Simon Gregson selling £30 fan videos - but he can't mention the soap

Corrie's Simon Gregson is signed up to a company offering video messages to some of his biggest fans, but he's barred from mentioning the soap.

Personalised videos by Simon, who plays Coronation Street legend Steve McDonald, are available for £30 from the online service Celeb VM.

The service, which allows celebs to 'spread love with personal video messages', has Simon listed along with other celebs including his co-star Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow in Corrie, Cold Feet star John Thomson and 90s pop duo Right Said Fred.

It explains on the website: "Simon cannot mention character names/locations etc from the TV programme that he is in!

"Great as gifts for birthdays, Christmas, weddings, personal connections and much more

"You can watch, download, share and keep your video forever."

Fans are told that most videos are done within a few days to two weeks.

They are urged to include details such as interests, hobbies, hometown, birthday and age so that Simon can make the video 'as interesting and personalised as possible.'

Fans can also upload a picture so the star can see them while recording the video message on their computers or smartphones.

It is explained that most celebrities use Celeb VM as 'a fun way to connect with their genuine fans' and celebrities can use the service to raise money and awareness for chosen charities and causes.

Users can choose from the hundreds of celebrities and enter the details they want mentioning.

One fan commented: "Absolutely brilliant she was so surprised when I put this on the main tv!! Thanks to Simon for doing this, fantastic and a quick turnaround from request to receiving the video!"

Simon, 45, from Wythenshawe, has played hapless character Steve, who is married to Tracy Barlow, since 1989.

The Street Cars boss and former Rovers Return landlord arrived on the cobbles with his twin brother Andy as a teenager with their parents Jim and Liz.

Tracy is currently causing him to despair in her bid to buy her dad Ken's house at 1 Coronation Street and snatch the family home from under the nose of her brother Peter.
