Coronation Street star shows off dramatic hair transformation as cast sing with Matt Lucas

The Coronation Street cast have joined Matt Lucas for an uplifting rendition of his Baked Potato song.

A number of cobbles favourites joined the Little Britain star to sing his hilarious tune, which is being used to raise money for Feed NHS and provide meals to front-line workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

At the start of the video, which was uploaded to Twitter, excited Matt says: "Wow, wow, wow, wow! The cast of Coronation Street. I can't believe it."

Corrie fans noticed that two of the cast members had dramatic hair transformations - with Steve McDonald looking almost identical to Matt Lucas.

The legendary Simon Gregson, who plays hapless Steve, appeared with a bald head as he danced around with his adorable dog.

Alexandra has dyed her hair blue this time (Twitter)

It seems a change in hairdo runs in the family as Alexandra Mardell, who stars as Steve's daughter Emma Brooker, changed her brightly-coloured hair from purple to blue.

Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape), Patti Clare (Mary Taylor), Colson Smith (Craig Tinker), Andrew Whyment (Kirk Sutherland), Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew), Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor) also joined in the fun.

Matt's performance of Thank You Baked Potato with the Coronation Street cast brought a smile to a lot of people's faces.

"Wowsers this is utter brillance, I am a massive Corrie fan Corrie and Matt couldn't get any better could it?!," tweeted one fan.

Another agreed: "Ahhhhhh it happened this is Amazing thankyou so much Love You Matt and Love u corrie"

"Have to say this has been my favourite yet :)," said a third.

A fourth added: "Elsie tanner would have loved it."

Alexandra seems to have switched from purple to blue hair over the last week.

The 26-year-old, who plays barmaid Emma in the ITV soap, gave herself a dramatic makeover while filming is suspended.

Taking to Instagram, Alex showed off how she'd transformed her luscious brunette curls with some bright purple hair dye.

Her co-star Ellie Leach commented: "OMG LOVE IT"

While former Corrie star Catherine Tydesley echoed her thoughts, writing: "I love it!!!!"
