Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has celebrated an “up and down” birthday following her breast cancer diagnosis.
The 69-year-old, who played Rovers Return bartender Liz McDonald for three decades on the ITV soap, told RTÉ’s Late Late Show in February that the illness is in its “very early stages”.
Posting on Instagram on Sunday (29 March), a day after her birthday, the actor said: “It was a bit of an up and down day because of having cancer.”
She said apart from getting her nails done, the day itself was quiet, but added that she was looking forward to celebrating with her work friends and husband Jon McEwan.
